SPC Productions

One lesson we were assigned to create a logo for our P09 Magazine which represented our group of three. My group consisted of Charlotte, Sophie and myself and we decided to use all of our first initals for the first part of the name. So the 'SPC' stands for Sophie, Phoebe and Charlotte. We got the idea for productions as we thought it sounded professional with the SPC, we also are a production.

We created the logos on Illustrator and before we choose a final logo we created several and choose a final one.

Here are the multiple logos we created:

To create a logo on illustrator I started by typing my text and changing my font to a 60 to 100pt. size. After that I vectorized the font and coloured the fill and text. Finally I vectorized the strokes so I could resize the logo to a smaller or bigger size with the strokes staying the same.

This is the choosen logo

Overall I'm pleased with the final outcome of the logo as it looks professional and different. The use of lines and different shapes makes the logo look more interesting. I feel I have achieved a logo which greatly represents the company. I also feel my Illustrator skills have improved as I wasnt to confident on the programme before I created my logo. If I was going to do this logo task again I'd change the font as I feel its to plain and isn't as eyecatching as I wanted.

Experimenting with colour in Photoshop

Experimenting with colour in Photoshop

One of my first photoshop experiments was with the colour tool. I changed the colour of the car in the top photo from red to a vibrant pink, however when the car changed as did the background and it went from being a natural sky blue to a artificial turquoise colour. I like how the car still looks natural as the pink has only spread over the car but in future I would prefer if the sky colour stayed the same.

Final outcome after editing

Overall I'm pleased with this photoshop experiment as I feel the change of the colour was done well. I liike how I successfully edited the colour of the car pink neatly without any colour running onto the background to make it look unprofessional. If I was going to do this again I would try and make sure the background colour doesn't change as it noticiably changed from a sky blue to a more artificle aqua blue.

Photoshop Techniques

Another photoshop technique I learnt was cloning. I found this experiment really interesting and different. I started this experiment by using the clone stamp tool and cloned her eye and then eventually her whole face.

This is another photoshop experiment. I transformed apart of  Lana's hair pink to create a unique look to the image. I started by adding a hue/saturation adjustment layer, I then selected the colourize option and a selected the pink hair colour. Finally I selected the brush tool and edited a section of the hair pink.

Another photoshop experiment I did was layers and levels. The larger photo was the original image which I found of google images. The second smaller imager next to it in the corner shows the photoshop edit Levels. I choose this experiment as I wanted to experiment with an edit which wasn't to challenging for my first go. The experiment was simple as all I did was adjust the tools on the levels bar to when I was pleased with it. The smaller image is the ends result and im overal pleased with it as I feel its an improvement from the original.

Creating Pages

Indesign Page

This is the first page I created through Indesign, it was an information page about Lady Gaga. I used a quirky font for the title as it represented Lady Gaga's image and in black colour because I wanted it to look sophisticated and blend with the rest of the writing. The layout of the text and image is vertical and with the text on the left and the images on the right. The layout is neat and organised as I wanted to make sure it was easy to read. I like the images I choose to use as they represent what I wanted to go, they also are all really clear and defined images. I created this page like a document. I started by choosing a font for the title, I wanted to go for a quirky title but also mordern. I feel the font I choose shows that. I then created a text box for the writing simply by clicking on the text bar, afterwards I pasted the text used for my page into the font. Finally I got images of google and places them opposite the writing. I pasted three images of the same size underneath each other and made sure they all fitted correctly and looked good with the rest of the page. Overall I'm pleased with my first page as it looks professional and unique.

This is another page I created. The theme was halloween and I wanted to create an informative and interesting page to represent the scary season. I done the same steps I did for the Lady Gaga page and am overall pleased with the page. What I did differently to the Lady Gaga page was add colour boxes underneath the photos (simply by creating square boxes and filling them in with different colours). I also added headers and changed the font to make them stand out. I like this page more then the other one as I feel I developed my techniques. Overall I'm pleased with the page and if I was going to do it again I would only change the font to make it stand out more from the page.
